New copper cables meet highest CPR fire performance class

Launch of copper cables with Cca and B2ca fire performance

Nexans is pleased to announce the launch of a new range of copper cables with enhanced reaction-to-fire performance according to the harmonised European standard EN 50575 following the Construction Products Regulation EU 305/2011 which came into force for cables on 01st July.
Having achieved compliance earlier this year for our standard LSZH and PVC cables meeting EuroClasses Dca and Eca respectively, we are now introducing a number of shielded and unshielded cables meeting the higher EuroClasses Cca and B2ca for flame spread and heat release.
In addition, these cables have the best ranking for smoke production and opacity (s1a), with a minimum light transmittance of 80% which facilitates smoother and faster evacuation in the event of a fire.
Cables with Cca performance are available in Category 6 U/UTP and F1/UTP, Category 6A F1/UTP and F/FTP and Category 7 and 7A S/FTP. B2ca performance is supported in S/FTP, both in Category 7 and 7A.
In order to meet the stringent requirements for flame spread, the new cable designs feature slightly different dimensions compared to their standard LSZH equivalent, whilst offering the same characteristics in terms of electrical and mechanical performance.
Details can be found in the related datasheets in our e-catalogue, where the Declarations of Performance (DoP) can also be downloaded.
The following new cables are added to the portfolio:

NCS PB112
The cables will be available from stock from October onwards and can be ordered now, except for the F1/UTP constructions which will follow in November.
