Description

Applications

Control and reduce the electric stress in MV cables joints.

See below the image of the application

Product advantages

  1. High permittivity stress grading material to reduce the electrical stress concentration in  MV cables joints (see hereunder an explanation)
  2. Good retention of mechanical properties till 120°C.
  3. No migration of low molecular weight polymers through silicone rubbers.
  4. Visco-elastic properties specially designed for sealing and obtaining void free constructions and good bonding to the cable material.
  5. Service temperature –20 °C to +100 °C. Overload temperature 120°C.
  6. Resistant to water and humidity.

MNAC: Hi-K mastic

Controlled cable joint-potential distribution thanks to the high dielectric constant (Hi-K) material

This Figure shows the stress concentration in MV cables joint when Hi-K mastic is applied. The function of the high dielectric constant material (MNAC) is to lighten the intensity of the electrical field in the more loaded areas. The Hi-K mastic help to equilibrate the electrical field and reduce considerable the electrical stress in the joint insulation.

Uncontrolled cable joint-potential distribution.

This figure shows the stress concentration in MV cables joint when no Hi-K mastic is applied. There is a concentration of the electrical field in the joint and provides the highest electrical stress. It can induce electrical discharges in the insulation and the life of the joint would be limited.
